Stalking - This is coming up as a new social evil

Stalking has of late become a social evil which is easily used against people for various reasons. It is normally implemented in the pretext of doing something good or helpful.

This has become so vast and organised that a few series of topics would be needed to discuss this in detail.

So more would follow in some of the coming posts

The historic epic of Moses and Red Sea

The story about Moses and the Red Sea is one which is frequently talked about and at times even debated as to how was Moses able to part the Red Sea?

It is said that in Egypt during the rule of the Great Pharoah, slavery was predominant because of which the condition of the masses was not very good. Moses was unable to see the despair and pain of the masses and arose to the rescue of the slaves. He leaded all of the slaves to Iran there by freeing them of the slavery. The Great Pharoah ofcourse did not like this and took all of his mighty army to get the slaves back and while crossing the Red Sea lost his life and the mighty army drowned into the deep waters of the Red Sea.

Here some people debated that Moses too had access to some alien technology because of which he was able to part the Red Sea.

I am not sure obout this nor do i beleive that any such technology might possibly have existed. I do beleive that there is a divine power which could have helped Moses achieve his objective of saving the slaves; since it was a pure and divine purpose and there by empowering him to part the red sea.

Hare Krsna Temple @ Juhu-Mumbai

A temple is a place of worship for the Hindus. Temples are considered divine; with the presence of Godly vibrations which purify the mind and energize the body .

The Hare Rama Hare Krishna Temple which is located at Juhu in the center of the mumbai suburbs is a very prime place of worship.

The Aarti (which are ritual praises to the lords idols) starts early in the morning starting 4.30 am and continues till 7 am, at times followed by some discourses. The Aarti is also performed again at noon and then in the eveniong and then at night. The preists keep the idols very clean and decorated with so many beautiful clothing and ornaments. The site of the 3 idols is so attractive that one can continue to stare at the idols forever.

Surrounding the 2 sides of the temple are more idols representing a story based on one of the historic scriptures . Its interesting to read the stories written on each of the stage.

Atria Mall @ Worli Mumbai

The Atria Mall at Worli Mumbai is beyond doubt the best Shopping Mall in Mumbai, it started off a year earlier around June 2006. At that time there were a very few shops which were open.
Being my favourite place to have a walk between hrs of work stress or even enjoy the free times between work, i started to frequent the place from October 2006( a time when there were more than 1/2 shops vacant in the mall). The mall reminded me of the malls in Singapore. With an identical look construction and concept, we could easily term it as a copy of a Singapore Mall. I have seen this mall through from emptiness to full of brand names...

The mall has 3 levels and a Food court along with a ground floor. With all top Local as well as International brands like Guess, Levis, Kappa, Mango, Sepia, Promod, Reebok, Raymonds and Sony to name a few it has become a prestine place to shop. The food court too has a very good collection of eateries, with cuisines ranging from Sindhi, chinese, mughlai and italian to name a few.

There is an amusment park at the food court level for kids and fun lovers with a mini bumper car ride and a kids world. A 4d Orama theatre is there as well.

Recently this mall has been a center of some good events, namely...

-A few months back there was a 4 -5 day continuous musical event performed by some indian musicians trying to make a mark by going into the records for playing the musical instruments continuously for a really long time.

-Just day before yesterday (16/7/07) there was a lively energetic shoot for an advertisement for Samsung Mobile phones featuring some of the hottest models. I had never seen an advertisement shoot in person before this. So the very first such event was a memorable event. The scene was more of a lighted dance/bar club with people dancing all over. The ground level was full of 20-25 models occupying their places waiting for the directors GO. It was sort of amazing to see all of them immediately turning from a static state to immediately starting to dance as soon as the music started as if someone had switched their buttons On. I am waiting to see the ad on Television.

-Today(18/7/07) while walking into Atria Mall after lunch, there were preparations going on for another shoot for Airtel prepaid card. This advertisement involved none other than Shah Rukh Khan. And there i got another chance to see SRK in close up to 5 feet away from me enacting for the advertisment. He seemed to be a pretty humble person with a smile on his face. He had to put in bunny teeth for the advertisement as it looked ot me a comedy enactment.

So i beleive this is the begining of the shopping Mall era in Mumbai.

First Blog - Extracts from Bhagvada Geeta during my Vedanta class

I start my new blog with some verses from the Bhagavad Geeta Chapter 13.

I had a chance to understand and listent to these at one of the Vedanta discourses at Bandra ( i shall mention about it more later) . I do find it very difficult to actually try to implement or practise all or many of these in todays real life. But to a knowledge seeker listening to such spiritual words gives answers to some undecissive questions which ones mind and inner self often debates within.

Verse 1-2. Arjuna said: O my dear Krsna, I wish to know about prakrti [nature], purusa [the enjoyer], and the field and the knower of the field, and of knowledge and the end of knowledge. The Blessed Lord then said: This body, O son of Kunti, is called the field, and one who knows this body is called the knower of the field.

Verse 3. O scion of Bharata, you should understand that I am also the knower in all bodies, and to understand this body and its owner is called knowledge. That is My opinion.

Verse 4. Now please hear My brief description of this field of activity and how it is constituted, what its changes are, whence it is produced, who that knower of the field of activities is, and what his influences are.

Verse 5. That knowledge of the field of activities and of the knower of activities is described by various sages in various Vedic writings--especially in the Vedanta-sutra--and is presented with all reasoning as to cause and effect.

Verse 6-7. The five great elements, false ego, intelligence, the unmanifested, the ten senses, the mind, the five sense objects, desire, hatred, happiness, distress, the aggregate, the life symptoms, and convictions--all these are considered, in summary, to be the field of activities and its interactions.

Verse 8-12. Humility, pridelessness, nonviolence, tolerance, simplicity, approaching a bona fide spiritual master, cleanliness, steadiness and self-control; renunciation of the objects of sense gratification, absence of false ego, the perception of the evil of birth, death, old age and disease; nonattachment to children, wife, home and the rest, and even-mindedness amid pleasant and unpleasant events; constant and unalloyed devotion to Me, resorting to solitary places, detachment from the general mass of people; accepting the importance of self-realization, and philosophical search for the Absolute Truth--all these I thus declare to be knowledge, and what is contrary to these is ignorance.

The above verses have been covered in the 2 sessions of the vedant i have attended so far. There shall be more to come as i attend more such sessions.
