Economical way to Talk to India from Singapore

A person of Indian origin living in Singapore, gets habituated to making calls to India to talk to ones near and dear ones. So what is the most economical and best way to speak to india from Singapore? Lets see here some of the ways are mentioned here and compared as well.

  1. 018 call using Starhub mobile Phone services -15 cents per minute (most expensive)
  2. Airtel call home service (http://www.airtelcallhome.com/ )-240 minutes in 10 $ (Service not very good and a lot of times the phone gets corss connected to some other numbers, callback service is not properly supported as well)
  3. India magic Phone card from little India. (300 minutes in 8.5$)
  4. Access Phone card from Little India (250 minutes in 8.5$) -BEST OPTION and GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY

The easiest way to call India is using the 018 service provided by starhub which helps you make a call to India for the same amount as a local call in Singapore which is 15 cents, but of all the options though teh quality is the best, this is the most expensive option. I used to use this option when i was new and was not aware of the other options available.

Then i started using Aurtel callhome service, which is an online account which one can top up and start making calls after registering the phone number. But this options was not very good because many a times i was connected to wrong numbers though i dialed the correct number and also the service operators said that they do not support teh call back facility which makes it a very bad .

After using Airtel call home for some time, i decided to use the phone card India Magic available from Little India as one of my friend suggested it to me, but i soon realised that the card does not give actually 300 minutes as promised and there are a lot of loop holes. The first loop hols is that 5 minutes gets deducted every day one you activcate the card irrespective if you use it or not. Then the card also has a per call minimum talk time which my friend said was 15 minutes per call... but i failed to understand the minimum talk time as the minutes got deducted from my account very erratically even when i spoke just for 16-18 minutes at times full 30 minutes was deducted. So this option proved to be expensive as well. The quality of teh call also was not very good and there was a delay in the voice.

Finally i decided to used another phone card called Access Card from little India as well, and i am satisfied using this card so far. There are no minimum talk limit on teh card and it has per minute billing and no extra minutes are deducted. The quality of the call is also better than India Magic.

I hope you benefit from this and make a wise choice when making a call to India
